Call for Papers: Hopkins as Classicist

Proposals are invited for a forthcoming special issue of The Hopkins Quarterly, guest edited by Dr. Anna J. Nickerson (Christ Church, Oxford) and Lewis Roberts (St John’s, Cambridge), which seeks to understand the invigorating influence of classical thought on Hopkins’ intellectual life. Contributors to this volume might find it productive to think about Hopkins’ classicism in relation to his activities as: a translator, a lecturer, a prosodist, a grammarian, a literary critic, a philosopher, or a historiographer.

Essays should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, although  shorter notes on textual matters will be considered as well. Proposals, with an indication of anticipated word-count, should be sent to: anna.nickerson@chch.ox.ac.uk by 14th February 2025.
